    • I love this band. These guys are really trying new things. Genre? Just when I think I know, I hear some other influence.

Keep up the great work, guys!

    • Forgive me if you guys don't like this comparison, but I felt like I was listening to a sort of Nickel Creek that kicked way more ass.

    • Would it be possible for Rurik to play with nothing more than socks and a cowboy hat on?

LETTER

Hello Everybody,

We are Vortex Park!  We are an orignal band located in Atlanta, Georgia.  When asked, "What type of music do you play?", we struggle, but have resorted to answering that we are pretty eclectic, having such an array of influences.

The band is comprised of  Rurik Nunan on violin, Justin Roberts on double bass, Brad Stott on percussion and Alex Wolf on guitar & vocals.  So, from the arrangement alone, you see it might be difficult to speculate on a genre.

We have all played in many bands, on many stages, with many names you'd recognize, but listing them all would no better describe our music and would most likely bore you.

With that said, we can only invite you to
listen for yourself and see what you think.

We are strong supporters for original art and music and recognize the importance of their existance.  We really do appreciate all of your support for our project and hope to see you out soon at a show!

Happy New Year!

Vortex Park would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! We hope you had a nice holiday season and are as ready as we are for some newly recorded music from Vortex Park!

That said, we have made a change in plans as to where we are going to do it. Due to the current state of our economy, we have decided not to embarrass ourselves in trying to get investors to take such a risk at this time (thank GW) and so with the assistance of our newest member and resident sound engineer, Zac Caplan, a current employee at Sonica Studios, will lead us in recording our first full-length studio album.

We intend to have some special guest musicians join us and intend to have it available for free download by Spring 2009.

Thanks so much to everyone for all of your positive support – it really means a lot to us!

11/28/2008

First off, Vortex Park would like to extend a warm Thanksgiving Holiday to everyone.  We are truly thankful to all of our fans for helping us keep this project going.

We have some exciting news for you!  In February 2009, Vortex Park will be heading into the studio to record a 10 track CD with Nick Chahwala twisting the knobs for us.  Nick runs his own studio, Namaste Studios, and is also an engineer at Tree Sound Studios.  We'll be laying down all the drum tracks at Tree Sound, as well as some mixing - the rest will be done at his recently opened studio, Namaste, in Vinings.

Needless to say, we are all very excited for this opportunity to get a kickass product for everyone's listening pleasure!

We'll keep posting blogs to keep you in the loop, so check back soon!

Best-
Alex
