I love this band. These guys are really trying new things. Genre? Just when I think I know, I hear some other influence.

Keep up the great work, guys!

Forgive me if you guys don't like this comparison, but I felt like I was listening to a sort of Nickel Creek that kicked way more ass.

Would it be possible for Rurik to play with nothing more than socks and a cowboy hat on?

Unbelievable! You have some band there. I'm serious. better than just about anything I've heard. Tight, unique sound, amazing talent, it was so good. Your guitar has come so far from the Both Sides days. You are indeed the lead now and deservedly so. Your band is great too. Chris's mandolin is fantastic and his and back up vocals are the perfect accompaniment to your vocals. Your violin guy is great as is the percussionist. Justin's bass f-n rules and he keeps it all together. I love the smile that kids has when he's slappin' the strings. He's really really good.

Did you by chance record the show? I'd love a copy of it if you did. We had to cut out and I hated doing so. I wanted to stay.

We were very comfortable and the sounds was surprisingly good. Not too loud and really clear. [UNDERNEATH] has a nice feel. I'd be surprised if you are playing shows there for very long. It's honestly the best music I've heard in a while. I wouldn't compare your sound to Phish, but I felt like I was at my own private screening of a Phish show. You guys are playing some great songs and the new one you reluctantly played f-n rules. Please send me a link to some MP3s I can download. I really want to listen more.

It was amazing. Great job.

A park can be construed as a gathering place for people/things/activities, and a vortex brings to mind whirlpools, energy coming together, different matter/ideas being combined into one....so [Vortex Park] is a gathering place for varied influences and musical ideas, coming out as one.

LETTER

Hello Everybody,

We are Vortex Park!  We are an orignal band located in Atlanta, Georgia.  When asked, "What type of music do you play?", we struggle, but have resorted to answering that we are pretty eclectic, having such an array of influences.

The band is comprised of  Rurik Nunan on violin, Justin Roberts on double bass, Brad Stott on percussion and Alex Wolf on guitar & vocals.  So, from the arrangement alone, you see it might be difficult to speculate on a genre.

We have all played in many bands, on many stages, with many names you'd recognize, but listing them all would no better describe our music and would most likely bore you.

With that said, we can only invite you to listen for yourself and see what you think.  There's some tunes on this site and you can get our stuff on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and last.fm.

We are strong supporters for original art and music and recognize the importance of their existance.  We really do appreciate all of your support for our project and hope to see you out soon at a show!

Best-
Vortex Park
